What to Expect
What happens during a Reiki treatment?
During a Reiki treatment, you will lay fully clothed on a massage table or bed, or sit in a chair, depending on your preference. I am able to offer Reiki in two ways: hands-on (very light touch) or floating hands (no touch). I am trained and attuned to treat at a distance as well, although I generally prefer working with my clients in person. While there is a series of prescribed hand positions to deliver Reiki energy, I also work intuitively (meaning I treat where I am guided to treat). A Reiki treatment generally covers first the head, then the front of the body, and lastly the back.
What does Reiki feel like?
Reiki tends to feel warm and profoundly relaxing. You may feel my hands become hot or tingly. Some people describe a floating sensation and some see colors or shapes during the session. Some people fall asleep. Some experience emotional release. There is no expected experience- Reiki is unique as each individual receiving it. The most common results of Reiki treatment include:
• Perceived reduction in stress
• Increased relaxation
• Enhanced sense of balance, centeredness, and calm.
What are the benefits of having several sessions?
Just like exercise, the effects of Reiki are cumulative. While one session can work wonders, repeated, regular Reiki treatments can invite significant improvement. As an example: If you exercise for an hour, you will receive benefit. If you exercise every day for a month, the results will be much more profound. Reiki works similarly – regular sessions support well-being in every way.
Can Reiki "cure" me?
Reiki is a complementary medical art that works well alone, as well as in concert with other treatments. Healing happens in different ways for different people. Reiki brings about healing exactly as it’s needed for that particular person. While it can offer relief from even chronic pain, emotional or physical, Reiki is not a replacement for traditional medical treatment.
